Blackboard supports online quizzes or tests with a variety of features, including timed options, multiple choice, or essay writing. Below you will find instructions for how to set up a quiz or test for your class.

  1. Add a new Content Area. See this article for instructions on how to create and organize content areas.

  2. Click on the name of the Content Area where you want the quiz or test. Once there, select Assessments. You will see the option to create various forms of assessment. To create both quizzes and tests, you will click Tests.

  3. From there, you will see "Create a New Test." Select Create.

  4. Enter a Name, Description, and any Instructions for the quiz or test. Once done, click Submit.

  5. Hover over Create Question, and you will find a long list of question options. Most likely, you will want to use "Essay," "Multiple Choice," or "Short Answer."

  6. Enter each part of the quiz or test by creating each question and clicking Submit. You can also enter a point value for each question.

  7. Once you have completed the template, click ok in the lower right-hand corner of the page.

  8. Now you will see "Add an Existing Test" and you can click the quiz or test you just created. Once selected, click Submit.

  9. This will take you to a page to help you set up test information, such as availability to students and how feedback will be given. Once your settings have been chosen, click Submit. Your quiz or test should be ready to go!
