You can email your class or even a group within your class (like a precept group) directly in Brightspace.  Here's how you can do this.


Emailing the Entire Class

  1. Open the course in which you would like to email students.

  2. Click on Classlist at the top of the page on the Navbar.


  1. To email the entire class, click Email Classlist, then click Send Email on the new page that populates.


  2. A new window will pop up entitled Compose New Email.  Scroll down to the text box and type your email. You can add attachments as you would with an email from the Outlook program.

  3. Be sure to add your PTS email as the primary recipient (i.e. "To: YOUR PTS EMAIL") if you would like to have a copy of this email. Brightspace does not hold a copy of your email.

  4. When you have finished composing the email, scroll back up to the top of the window and click Send.


Emailing a Specific Group within a Class

  1. Open the course in which you would like to email students.

  2. Click on Classlist at the top of the page on the Navbar.


  3. Change the View By from User to Groups in the Dropdown menu, then click Apply.


  4. A new Dropdown menu will appear from which you can select the group you would like to email.  Once you have selected the group, click Apply.


  5. Now that the specific group you would like to email is listed, check the box to select all of the names (at the top left of the Spreadsheet).  Then click Email.


  6. A new window will pop up entitled Compose New Email.  Scroll down to the text box and type your email. You can add attachments as you would with an email from the Outlook program.

  7. When you have finished composing the email, scroll back up to the top of the window and click Send.
