Currently, the desktop application for Zotero is not compatible with Chromebook.  However, there is a web-based version of the Zotero database that you can use to still be able to save your sources.  To do this:

1. Add the Zotero plug-in for Chrome. This adds the extension to be able to save your source from the browser.
2. On the Zotero website, click Log In in the upper right corner of the window and create an account (or log in if you already have an account).
3. The window should open your Zotero library and look similar to this:

To Save Items to the Web-Database from the Plug-In:

  1. Click on the Zotero Connector plugin icon (in the upper right corner of your Chrome browser).
  2. Click "Enable Saving to Online Library"
  3. Accept the default permissions they present in the next screen. After this, you should be able to click the plugin icon to save the source information to your online database the same as saving the information to the desktop app.

Note: You can also manually save items to your online Zotero account by creating the citation manually or looking up the ISBN number with the wand icon.

Creating Citations with Zotero

For using Zotero for citations in your papers, there is not currently a system to link the web database with the Word Plug-in.  It would probably be easiest if you used one of the lab computers.  You can log into the Zotero desktop application and use the Word plug-in.  The Digital Learning Lab is open and the computers are available for use during all Library hours.
