Sometimes, the features for highlighting the Perusall text can be difficult to use, especially when using a mobile device. Here are some suggestions for using the tools.
- It’s easier to highlight a section of the Perusall text if you start at the end of the section and move backward to the beginning (versus trying to start at the beginning and highlight forward). Otherwise, it will tend to try to highlight all of the text on the page.
- The speed at which you move your cursor when highlighting text also affects things. If you press and hold for a brief moment before moving your cursor, it will be a more precise highlight.
- In iOS in particular, when you highlight a passage and want to add a comment, you need to click “Add Comment” twice to get to the comment window. The first click will get you out of the automatic iOS menu for selected text, and the second click will actually open the comment window in Perusallan. See the image below for the example of the iOS menu.
